If you like the risk/reward outcomes from your own decision making abilities over the statistical replay of football games on the market today, then this game is for you. The offensive player chooses a play, the defensive team selects a defensive strategy to counter. The two options are cross indexed on a decision matrix to obtain a result. Exciting action. Currently not in print anywhere, but should be able to find one somewhere and great league action can begin on a private chat line. It's companion game, BASEBALL STRATEGY, is equally as exciting.
Even when Avalon Hill shrank the board and put the plays on flimsy cards, this game remained a great one. While some say it was a guessing game, it was more like poker, you needed to play by the odds, but not so predictable that your opponent could guess your next move. What would it take to bring this great game back? All the 'Statistically Accurate' games are nonsense. Even if someone wants to dress it up with some bells and whistles, (How about an instant replay review by the officials?) I don't care, bring the game back.
