I love connection games such as Twixt, Trax and even Pipeline. Havannah--which I first purchased in the 1980's--remains a favorite of mine. The rules couldn't be simpler, and the strategy is unusual. Like Twixt, the best offense is to play defensively. The inventor, Christian Freeling, who is also the inventor of Grand Chess and Hexdame, has a website in which the game can be played by people all over the world. As far as I know, Funagain Games is the last place in this country that you can order it. I played a game last night and lost after making a obvious blunder. Like Chess, a great opening and genius play in the middle game is wiped away by one stupid move in the endgame. Fans of Funagain Games should take advantage of this classic while it's still obtainable. No lover of abstract games should be without this in their library.
