iMAgiNiff... your brother were a car, which car would he be?
iMAgiNiff... your best friend were a cartoon character, which would it be?
iMAgiNiff... you could travel in time, where would you go?
The OBJECT of the game:
It's simple! Just imagine what the other players
are most like. Keep choosing the most popular
answers to win the game.
PLAYING the game:
All the players write their names on the
erasable game board. Fill in any
empty spaces with the names
of people you know. It's
different every time you play!
Roll to decide who will be the "subject" of the question and read a question card aloud. Each player chooses one of 6 answers. Players with the most popular answers advance to win.
I'm from a family that plays lots of games. There are some members of my family that ,when we clear the dinner table for a game, they excuse themselves to the bathroom and don't return for two hours. Imaginiff did not do that.
Imaginiff is, frankly, the game for everyone. Trivia buffs in my family loved it. Strategic - leaning and the excessively competitive in my family also loved it. The reason is that the trivia is about themselves. Everyone can answer a question about her boss or his mother - in - law.
While the premise sounds like it could lead to spousal strife, it doesn't because the cards do not take themselves too seriously.
Be warned, if you are playing at the in- laws and you're the outsider, you will be trounced on the scoreboard. It's worth it. This game is laugh out loud fun and it will hook EVERYONE at your next gathering.
I bought this game upon the recommendation of the [page games100]Games 100 this year, and was not disappointed. My family is a big game playing family and everyone enjoyed it immensely. The game goes quickly, and the fun is in seeing how different people answer the questions (which are very creative and often funny). I wouldn't recommend this game for a group of people that didn't know each other, though.
Imaginiff would be an excellent answer to this question. I have had several requests to bring this one again and again.
Game play is pretty simple. Each player chooses a color of pawn and places it at the start. They are then given 6 vote cards in their color, numbered 1 through 6). Eight names are written on the board in a circle. The names should be of those playing the game and, if there is less than eight playing, people that all the players know.
On your turn you roll the die and move a marker around the circle. When you stop on a name you pull a card from the box and use that name to fill in the blank. The questions are all silly theoretical ones like, "Imaginiff _____ was a famous movie line what would he/she be?" There are 6 multiple choice answers offered up. Everyone chooses the vote card from their hand that matches the answer they think most appropriate, and they put it face down on the table. When everyone has voted, the cards are revealed.
Here comes the fun part of Imaginiff...Majority rules! Everyone who votes for the most popular answer moves one space forward (the reader moves 2 if they're right). Why is this so fun? Because if the question is about you it doesn't matter what you vote, if everyone else thinks you would be something else, you don't move. I guess you don't know yourself very well.
There are also challenges where only 2 players play and if they guess the same answer, they both move several spaces, but if they're wrong they move back. Also there are Bonus cards that you can play with your vote card and move extra spaces if you are in the majority on that vote.
Imaginiff is not the perfect party game, it has a few flaws:
Otherwise Imaginiff is a great party game for small to medium-sized groups. It always seems to entertain, and you'll find out a little of what others think of you.
