Product Description

Wortelboer is a fast paced cardgame. Each player holds 18 identical cards: 8 carrots, 4 rabbits, 2 foxes and 4 special cards.

The object of the game is twofold. You have to collect as many carrots as you can, and you have to build Food Pyramids. Carrots give a lot of points but only the player with most carrots at the end of the round gets any points. Pyramids give few points but once you have them no one can take them away. One round is played until one player holds only carrots in his hand.

The players play one carrot or rabbit or fox and as many of the special cards as they can. Making combinations with the special cards (good weather, bad weather, Poacher and Ranger) is the key to winning the game. A game consists of four or more rounds.

****
Really funny and entertaining
March 28, 2001

Very good game. No session is the same, despite the fact that no dice are introduced. Good fun. The previous review missed the point entirely if they state that the object of the game is to build ecosystems (this is just one way to score points) the real object is to become 'Wortelboer' by collecting the most carrots in the field on your hand. You can do this by using your rabbits.

If this is a food chain, I'd rather go hungry.

Carrots, rabbits and foxes. A card game where you try to have the right balance of cards in your hand while subverting those of your friends. The theme is that of an ecosystem in balance which must have three carrots, two rabbits and one fox, The overall feel is one of playing a game system, rather than a game. No sense of fun here. The game is a real boer.
