So you've decided to make a little spending cash this summer using Mad Cows (which are going cheap in England) to clear fields of unexploded bombs in France (which apparently pays pretty well). Okay, but you'll have to remember to play better than all your friends, or you're just as likely to lose money.
Unexploded Cow is a money game in which the players are trying to collect enough points to win the Pot. On every turn you will buy Cows and pay for special effects by putting money into the Pot, then try to discover bombs with your own Cows in an effort to take money out of the Pot. All along, you will be earning points from the French as you liberate town after town from the terrors of unexploded bombs, and the player who scores the most points gets whatever's left in the Pot.
Unexploded Cow is best played as a series of short games, each of which takes about half an hour. The game is quite simple and very chaotic, and we think you'll have a blast.
Ok. I have a friend who said she had found this great new game. At first, i was sceptical. Come now, you have to admitt that the whole thing sounds a little absurd. A lot as a matter of fact. And then i played it and my view changed. This game is a wonderful waste of time and perhaps even a good opportunity to talk European politics (laughs). Yes it is a little geeky, but what good board game isn't. And it's cheap which never hurts.
We played over new years, but improvised and used poker chips in place of the phony cash. What a blast. It's not every day you see a goofy game like this being played by a conservative like my dad. We played non-stop for four hours! Great alternative to cow tipping, and less dangerous.
This is a great game to play for a relaxing good time. It's kind of silly, so it's hard to take too seriously (eliminating the often-annoying 'I must win at everything' problem some players have). It's quick so you don't get bored before you finish playing. It's easy to learn and to play so a beginner can play against an old-hand without feeling stupid. Great for getting-to-know-you get togethers.
