Pick a category from the cards in your hand and name an item that belongs in that category. With every quick, correct answer, you throw away a card. Be the first player to get rid of all your cards and you win! It's that easy... with a few twists. It's fun... it's challenging... it's your time to RESPOND!
I really enjoy playing this game with my children.
The game is very light, but makes you really have to think. I believe respond gives you a real
test of you quick thinking skills. The game last about 10 minutes. We like to play five rounds and the one with the most wins . The cards are nice, the timer is great. The rules are simple. You can teach a new player in 2 minutes.
I ordered this one in Funagain's post-holiday sale. I figured that even if it was a stinker, it would be worth it for the bright yellow and red electronic timer device.
The gist of this game is fairly simple (pick a category from your hand, announce an item in that category, press the button on the clock giving the player to your left :20 to come up with an item in a category from their hand beginning with the LAST letter of the item you mentioned). There are slight variations on this theme, but that's the basic game.
After explaining it, we all assumed it would be a fast (though dull) game... Let's just say that this may have been the surprise of the night!
For example, imagine the player before you throws down the category: 'Girl's Name' and says, 'Mary' leaving you to find a word beginning with the letter 'Y' in :20. You look at your cards and find that you have the following
categories: 'Fish', 'Occupation', 'Musical Instrument', 'Bird' and 'Way To Travel'... What do you choose???
After playing our first game in which we allowed repetition of answers, we opted to enforce a no-repeat policy in game two that really upped the challenge! We even imposed a draw penalty if you accidentally repeat an item!
In the end, this game wound up being surprisingly fun and mentally challenging!
