Product Description

Four dealers are on the way to the market in Marrakesh with their caravans. The journey is cumbersome and full of dangers because sandstorms and shifting sand dunes obstruct progress again and again.

But everybody knows: At the market one can do very good business.

An adventurous racing game with tactical elements and an unusual, variable game board.

Interesting Variant on 'Up the River'
May 27, 2003

This game is essentially the same as Ravensburger's 'Up the River (UtR)' with a few variations. The die is replaced with tiles drawn from a bag and the scoring is a little more balanced.

The tile drawing either lets you move in the same ways as UtR (some number of spaces or up to your farthest piece) or moves the desert tile so you fall back away from the oasis. This is a little more interesting than UtR because the moving of the tiles is random instead of once per round.

The scoring is done by four groups of four random scoring discs that are earned as you finish. The first four are higher than the next four and so on. You don't look at your score until the end so it can be hard to tell who is really winning.

We have a lot of fun with it especially my almost 7-year old.
