Fun for the whole Family!!
February 27, 2006

This game is so much fun!! Even though the objective is to get rid of your cards, it's actually kind of exciting when the machine shoots cards at you. Sometimes my husband and I get tired of playing the same old board games with the kids, but when they suggest Uno Attack we are always up for it. There are even times when WE ask if THEY want to play. We have realized that they don't even care who wins or loses. The different cards that have been added to the deck make it interesting and EVERYBODY wants their turn to push the button, even if it means adding more cards to your deck. This game is a definite must for all families!!

Good remake of a classic game
August 16, 2005

"Let's see... How can we make Uno more exciting? I know! Instead of drawing a card, push a button on a machine that might spit cards at you!"

Aah, the genius of large corporate game designers. Instead of adding more complexity to old games, they add flashy new components. But in the case of Uno Attack they hit the jackpot.

The card shooter adds excitement to an otherwise dull game. There is a certain thrill associated with pushing that button, because you never know what will come out. They have improved the mechanism that grabs the cards from when this game originally came out, and so now you could get 0 cards or you could get about 10.

The Uno Attack card shooter also makes this a very humorous game. It's just so funny to see a player with a mitt-full of cards get hit with a bunch more from the machine.

I would recommend this game for some enjoyable family fun. But keep in mind this is probably not for serious gamers, because luck is still the primary element involved.

More fun than UNO but still totally luck-based
January 06, 2004

Played once on New Year's Eve.

This is an UNO knock-off but preferable to the original. There are two changes:

1) There are some new cards. The Discard All lets you get rid of all your cards of a color. The Swap Hands card lets you do just that. There are also some variations on Wild Draw 4 that use innovation 2:

2) The number of cards drawn, when such is called for, is random. The deck is in the illustrated machine that will spit out zero to 5 or 6 cards when the button is pressed. Pressing the button takes the place of drawing a card in UNO. Invariably you jump when the cards shoot out. Many times nothing will come out at all.

I would gladly play it again, a few more times at least, for the sheer fun of the slot-machine tension of the card machine. It really adds a lot to the game that instead of always knowing you will draw one, two or four cards in a given situation, now you push the button a certain number of times and you may get no cards or ten.

Playing with people who loved to stick cards on each other and gloat when it spit a handful at an opponent made it even better. If you don't like that, though, you probably won't like this game, because there really isn't opportunity for any other kind of interaction between players.

If I were to ever get a hankering to play UNO, this would be the version I'd choose. Halfway through playing Attack!, though, it struck me that just like in regular UNO I had no impact over the outcome, I would win if the machine was nice to me and lose if it wasn't.

I'd give it five relative to regular UNO, and 2 relative to other games. Round up to four stars because I truly enjoyed playing it. I suspect that with future playings the disappointment with the randomness of the winner would grow and the fun diminish, but that's just UNO for you. The playing experience was greatly enhanced by the people I was playing with, and I wouldn't be surprised if the opposite would be true as well.
