Product Description

Now it is time to go railroading in Europe. Just like Transamerica, players work together building a railroad network, but this time it is across Europe instead of the United States. The first to have their five cities connected winds the round -- the others lose points for being too slow! After 3-4 rounds, the player with the most points wins the game!

Game fun for everyone!

This is the kind of game new gamers can pick up in about 5 minutes but experienced gamers will be working on the strategy for a long time. The premise seems simple: lay tracks connecting your 5 cities (known only to you) before your opponents do the same. However, you'll eventually be hooking up with your opponents tracks, which you can use, AND they can use yours to get to their designated cities. The trick is to find the best route to your cities without getting too close to your opponents' cities.

TransEuropa moves fast, is beautifully designed (typical of Rio Grande Games) and everyone from experienced to casual gamers can enjoy it. My teenage sons took it to game night at church and it was an instant hit. Everyone wanted to play, but only 6 can play at a time -- which isn't bad. This game is great!

TransAmerica with some worthwhile twists.

TransEuropa is the younger sister of TransAmerica, adding a few new rules (e.g. tunneling; rail stations) to make it different enough from the original to make it interesting. Like TransAmerica, the game is simple and fast to play, accelerating with each round of play, generating lots of excitement.

I really can't recommend one game over the other, although I personally prefer TransAmerica, so I rate them both at 4-stars.

Highly recommended.

Family Game - i.e. Better for Kids
Amy Bertoncini

This is a nice game to play with pre-teen kids. My 5 year old likes to play with me. I agree with the critics of TransAmerica that there is not really any deep strategy, and very little strategy at all to the game. If you have kids, by all means buy it and play it with them. I'd rather play Ticket to Ride, Settlers, Carcassonne, Puerto Rico, Apples to Apples or almost anything else with gamer type adults. Non-competitive, non- gamer family members have also enjoyed this game.
