Product Description

A cork ball on the top of a wooden pedestal carries a board outbalanced by about 25 wooden pieces. These pieces have different forms, sizes and weights (!). In turn, every player takes away one of these pieces from the board, still trying to keep the balance.

Some slope positions of the board seem next to impossible -- when it tumbles, the game is over. The player who was able to put aside the most pieces, wins.

A wobbly challenge for the whole family and a pleasure with a slope to play, enjoy and watch.

Nerve wracking, quality, fun.
February 22, 2000

In my reserch of games on the net I came across this balance game called BAMBOLEO. I am a collector of games and usualy purchase 10+ games at a time. But few of them are party games I can get my immediate family into. So I went on a hunt for unusual games to suit that purpose. I found two excelent games: one was VISIONARY and the other was BAMBOLEO. I received my shipment and proceeded to open the shrink. The quality and color of this game is outstanding. As for production value let me say WOW. Everything is made of wood in this game. I set it up and asked my wife to try it. She really liked the way it actualy scares you when the plate starts tipping and wobbling. I felt it was very dangerous to pick the wrong piece, wich gave the game an edge you dont get very often. If you want a party game to suit two to seven friends this is a best buy in my book. Everyone laughs when the plate tips or falls, and that's almost every turn. If you get this gem you will have made a balanced decision.

A Fun Physics Game....
January 18, 2001

One of the nice things about this game is that you can be up and playing within 2 minutes of opening the box.

The rules are simple and game play is pretty quick, and you'd be surprised how your heart races not only on your turn, but also when it's someone else's turn and the disk starts swinging. There is varied strategy to removing pieces. You can try to play it safe and remove a piece to try to level the disk, or as one of our group repeatedly did, remove a piece to make the board less stable, thereby making the next player's turn more difficult.

This is a good family/party game that could be played by adults and children. The group of friends that I played it with are all in our late 20s to early 30s and we all enjoyed it. The reason I gave the game 4 stars instead of 5 is that, although this is a fun game, I can't imagine wanting to play it over and over. It's more of a light, enjoyable diversion.

The tippy plate game
September 14, 2001

This game is intriguing as you pull it out of the box: black and red wood pieces, a big yellow wooden disc, a stand, and some cork balls. What on earth?! Bamboleo of course! Not unlike multiplayer [page scan/se=0616/sf=category/fi=stockall.asc/ml=20]Jenga in the sense of being a remove-a-piece game, Bamboleo succeeds by staying simple. While Jenga is a good two player game, Bamboleo seems to be a bit better multiplayer. Not a lot to the game: put red and black pieces on yellow disc; then balance yellow disc on the corkball stand; now each player removes pieces without the plate tipping and dumping it all over himself.

It doesnt sound too hard, and that might be part of the problem. In Jenga you are never exactly certain when the tower will fall, but in Bamboleo you have a pretty good idea when it will. The game has some rules to help make even that part a bit exciting, but it does lack some tension in the end. And the plate seems to tip over a lot, sometimes not even making it all the way around to the player who started removing pieces. Dont think I dislike this game though. It is a nice diversion. But it probably wont blow your mind either.
