If only Avalon Hill would have got the message ahead of time
April 22, 1999

Before the demise of SPI they came out with a game called The Creature that ate Sheboygan. This game was a whole lot of fun. It was too late for them (SPI) as they got gobbled up by the TSR dragon. Avalon Hill released this game on the eve of their demise. Is it a classic which will have the newest flock of German imports gathering dust on the shelf? No. Is it a whole lot of fun to play and well worth the investment? Yes! Should Avalon HIll have released games like this earlier? If they had, many of their fans wouldn't be getting over the Hill now! A good game, a lot of fun.

Not a good game!
February 01, 2011
I bought this game quite a while back but and wasn't disappointed with the components and gameboard but after playing it twice came to the decision that this is not a good game. It seems to be based entirely on luck. There is a lot of unending and monotonous dice-rolling in combat and really only one major strategy: wear down your opponents' health points before the final combat. There are also cards in the game with some that have much better abilities than others. This also means that luck becomes a major factor in the game: whoever draws the right card will do very well in the game. Because of the neat components and artwork I wont give this game a totally bad rating but it seems to me that the game was cooked up real quick and put on the market without much attention to recreating a B-movie monster game that will be interesting and tough-provoking to play. Buy Monsterpocalypse instead.
