Product Description

Welcome to the world of King Arthur! In this fabulous card game, as in the board game, the players again meet courageous knights, dangerous monsters and dark powers. As knights they try to show their adversaries the gates, to win knightly tournaments and to find the Holy Grail. More than fame and honor they want one thing above all: the place at King Arthur's side.

A good knights play
September 22, 2006

With all the negativity around the board game version you may be tempted to pass this off, however, I'm glad I didn't.

I haven't played the board game, so I can't compare it. All I can do is mention how many times I've played this great filler card game, and also the amount of times the kids have asked to play it. Lots, then some more.

It’s basically a card resource game, but somehow feels different – I don’t care much for themes in general, I just like to enjoy the game for what it is, so I don’t get wound up that this has nothing to do with King Arthur. Buy a movie if you want more theme…

You start the game with four Knights cards, which come in four different colours. Building up sets of these allows you to capture ‘Adversary’ cards – i.e. a number 4 Red Adversary can be captured by 4 red knight cards, a number 1 Yellow Adversary requires only 1 Yellow Knight. You need the Adversary cards to complete and capture the Quest Cards. There are 15 ‘Quests’ each worth between 6 – 20 points, examples of quests are: 1 adversary of each colour, yellow cards totaling up to 5, any two adversary cards, etc...

Well-balanced choices usually leave a close finish, I’ve played with 2 & 3 players both work equally well. Games moves along very quickly and every time you play you are torn towards which Quest cards to aim for. Actually we still haven’t tried the advanced game, since we’ve enjoyed the basic.

Good old Reiner, again…
