The game mechanics couldn't be more simple. One person is the judge. Everyone else has cards with different nouns on them. You choose one or two of those cards (depending on how many people are playing) that you think the judge likes most. The judge ranks the cards (s)he received, the best to the worst. The one the judge thinks is best wins the highest point chip for the player who put that card in. The second best, according to the judge, wins the second highest value chip. And so on.

Then all players pass their remaining cards, and the person who doesn't get any becomes the new judge. Everyone gets to be judge once. At the end whoever has the most points from their chips wins the game.

It is important that I emphasize the purpose of Whoonu. This game is not for serious gamers. There is no strategy, and no planning required. It often comes down to who gets the best cards at the right time.

But this is the finest game when you want to get to know people. It helps you to learn what people like, and encourages a lot of conversation. Whoonu is great for casual parties with family and friends. I have found that no one really cares who wins or loses, they just want to have fun. The best part is that literally anyone can play if they are old enough to read the cards.

Another neat thing about Whoonu is that you can play a multitude of variants on the main theme. You could play the reverse version, where everyone tries to pick out cards they think the judge would like the least. You can play the couples version where you take six cards and write down the order you think your spouse would rank them, and for every one you have ranked correctly you get a point. The possibilities are virtually endless.

The strongest testament to the effectiveness of Whoonu is that last time playing I threw in a card thinking it was a waste, but I had nothing better. I expected to get nothing more than a laugh and the lousy 1 point chip. Instead I got the highest (6) point chip. I turned to my wife and said, "Whoonu she liked bananas that much?" That is how effective this game can be at teaching you more about your friends.

I positively recommend this game and rate it the highest rating for what it is...an awesome get-to-know-each-other game. Again I will reiterate there is no strategy, but a ton of fun.
