Chance and luck play no part in this game. The rules are simple and easy to learn. Yet there is an amazing strategic depth to ConHex, which will keep players engaged until the very end of each game.
Each player has the goal of connecting two opposite sides of the game board with a continuous chain of spaces of his color. Player A wins, if he connects the upper with the lower side, player B is anxious to connect the left with the right side. A tie is impossible.
Abstract games are not my favorites. I do enjoy Twixt (Which is also a connection game) chess, go and pool/international checkers. This game is addictive, it is easier to take spaces on the side, so an initial conflict usually occurs, but sense no draw is possible, a tight battle toward center spaces is bound to happen.
My only object to the game is the price. This will keep the game from a large group of people, though this product will be a nice adornment to any living room.
I'm not sure if I can comment on the depth of this game. From the many times I've played I think it has a great deal of potential. I certainly think it is the equal or superior to Twixt, Focus or Cathedral. I love it.
