Take one fun party game, add a dash of legalization politics, a dollop of hillarious flavor text, and you get Stoner Fluxx. Stoner Fluxx is an awesome game based on the instant classic Fluxx. The game play is nearly the same, but cards were added for a marijuana concept. With a high emphasis in legalizing Marijuana, and great quotes like 'just say no thank you.' this game was a hit with my friends regarless if they smoked pot or not. I'd recommend this game to anyone who wasn't close minded (I even bought a copy for my mom). Note: this review refers to a different release of this product.
Please review the game itself, instead of judging a game that you haven't played, based on your morals. If you thought that Fluxx was meant to be taken as a 'serious' game, you are sadly mistaken. Stoner Fluxx is, no doubt, meant to be taken lightly as well. And if a few drug jokes are going to turn you away from one of the best 'filler' games around, I am sorry that your game-playing experience will never be as full as it could be. With that in mind, I would like to offer an actual review of the game: I think that Stoner Fluxx is an excellent game among a group of adults. The gameplay is identical to Fluxx 3.0 and the cards are basically the same with different themes/names/pictures. There are optional ways in the game to allow you to smoke, but as Looney labs says on their website and on cards in the game, illegal smoking of marijuana is discouraged, and even if others playing the game are doing it, you don't have to. So, what would I say to someone who is anti-drugs, particularly marijuana? Don't buy this game; buy Fluxx 3.0. It's still a great game. I am surprised at the negative comments this delightful, silly little game can garner. People seem to have no qualms about instantly disregarding this game and it's makers, Looney Labs, because of the somehow questionable content. I wonder if other "adult" games featuring sex and violence get the same close minded "never tried it, never gonna" refuters? Do the people posting negative comments on this based on the fact it deals with an illegal "substance" (a flowering plant) also feel the need to complain about the death and mayhem in Axis and Allies? Or the murderers in Horrorclix? Or the plunder of historic treasures in Incan Gold? Surely those would be more serious than smoking a joint. Sad it is, then, that people are more accepting of sex and violence in games than the fact that some people like to smoke a peaceful plant. It may be hard to judge a game based on it's own merit rather than it's philosophical view, but if you've never even tried it leave it alone and go complain about something more serious. I personally am opposed to putting ants in peoples pants, but there is a fun game by that name... Other Resources for Stoner Fluxx:
