In Detroit's Brighton Hospital, a well-known and well-liked doctor has just been found dead. The staff and visitors present at the time of the murder gather, and the inevitable begins -- find out who committed the evil deed before they can escape!
Welcome to the world of Murder Mysteries. You like dark affairs, somewhat twisted plots, mystery, uncertain motives and bulletproof alibis? Stop being nothing more than a spectator -- this time, you're the one leading the investigation! Put aside an evening, call+ up a bunch of friends, hand out the roles and the action can begin.
A bloody crime was committed, and the assassin is among the guests present tonight... unless you're the killer! This box contains all the elements you need to spend a fun evening trying to solve a murder -- the only thing missing are the guests!
This game is a Murder Party played under rules similar to the ones first created by now defunct French company called SPSR.
Similar to other murder parties, players play a role in a mystery investigation. However, this format is way superior to the "read the booklet around a dinner" formula of older games (How to Host a Murder series for example).
In this scenario, a famous Doctor is found shot dead in a hospital. Once the body is discovered, a few people gather in the cafeteria to discuss what to do and suddenly, an armed man walks in and demands help for his bullet wounded partner. Hijacked at gunpoint in a Hospital Cafeteria with a dead body lying on the floor and unable to call the police, the only option left to the players is to investigate and find out what is going on.
Action points are used to perform actions like investigate rooms in a hospital and search for real physical evidence (provided with the game).
Of course, this is just part of the fun, as the players represent colorful characters who have secrets to hide from the others, something that can be made difficult by the evidence that will show up. Dressing up is suggested and adds tons of fun. Role playing will make for an unforgettable evening with a group of friends.
In this game, one player is a murderer and knows it from the beginning (as well as the motives for the crime) and needs to avoid being discovered, trying to convince the others that the evidence discovered is incorrect or that it actually incriminates other players.
There are hilarious secrets and blackmailing is also a weapon to prevent own secrets being revealed.
If the group gets into the party mood, this game becomes unforgettable, even though it has very little replay value with the same group (you can always play again with different groups of people).
I have played the French version which has been available for several years now, and there is a ton of material on the Internet of groups who played it. Just search for "La Mort's Habille de Blanc" +pictures. It will surely help you check the mood of gameplay.
