"Music, Memories, and Major Fun!" Can you sing a song with the word "Love" in the lyrics? How about "heart"? "Run"? That's Encore! The object is to recall the most song lyrics that contain the words we stick you with!
This is the revised edition of Deluxe Encore.
This game is the best. What we usually do is split up into two teams, husbands/boyfriends on one side and wives/girlfriends on the other. That way there can't be any cheating. And if there is any question as to if the song is legit, we just make the person continue singing the song until we are convinced otherwise (usually this isn't an issue because the husband or wife of the person will usually vouch as to whether it is a real song or not). If you don't have fun playing this game, then you should probably just stick to solitaire.
My singing friends and I have been playing this game for years. If you have some acquaintance with song lyrics of any era or musical genre this is a great game. Ability to carry a tune is definitely not required. We have spent many nights in hilarious and tuneful fun. When I visit my old friends in Montana for our annual women's backpack trip someone always makes sure that I bring 'the game.' Encore is now 'the game'--that says it all. This is a great and enduring game.
This game is wonderful if you love to sing and you love music. If music is not your thing then definitely pass on this one. I love to play this game and so do my friends who are less musically inclined. The time limit element makes it fun! It's like playing "Hot Potato" using songs that you pass around instead! My family also loves to play because even the youngest members know songs and they can contribute!
We eliminated the cheating aspect by putting in the rule that if no one ever heard of your song, you couldn't use it. There were enough of us who know wide variety of music that we didn't hit that snag too often.
