Not amazing, but still a great game that left me wanting to play more. A lot more. Starbase Jeff combines some elements from pipe games with gambling- you pay chips into the pot to play pipe cards, and you get chips from the pot when you play end cap cards. If your new card is not next to any of your color of cards, you pay chips to the people who have cards between your new card and your nearest previously-played card. The person who completes (closes off) the space station gets the pot. Several rounds are played and the person with the most chips at the end wins. Completing the station can sometimes be a little random, but I've found good strategy makes up for it in that you can force other players to pay you if you place your tiles right. I've won more games by this than by winning the pot. The simultaneous aspect is also a great way to add in more strategy- the different types of cards have different ratings. Everyone chooses a card to put down, and reveals them at the same time. The highest rated cards go first. All in all, an excellent buy, especially for the price.

This is a simple, cute game where players lay out tiles to expand a space station, paying money into the pot. Players charge each other for using each other's station modules, and the person who finishes the station by playing a 'cap' or dead-end takes the pot. It's basically a pipe-laying game with a good amount of luck.

The best aspect of the game is how much the game changes between 2, 3, and 4 players. It is amusing, and cheap. I especially like the rules: 'We recommend you do not play this game for money. Furthermore, we strongly suggest you don't play for a nickel a credit.'

Worth the money.

The rules were a lot of fun to read, but everytime I've played it it seemed that each 'starbase' would finish very quickly with very little change in credits between the players.

I found it a bit interesting. No one else liked it at all.

I'd hoped that the advanced rules would help. They did, but not as much as I'd have liked.
