According to its designer, Bruno Faidutti, Bongo is one more game in the "stupid fun" category. Players are photographers trying to take pictures of wild African animals. Seven different dice with numbers and animal pictures are thrown on the table. The faces of the dice determine, in a rather complex manner, if an animal can be seen. The player who names the animal first takes a corresponding animal chip. Aim of the game is to be the first to collect two pictures of each animal in the game. The expert game adds poacher dice.
