Like an old Card Game
July 06, 2003

This game is almost exactly like a cheap baseball game I bought for only $1 many years ago. That was just the rules printed on a piece of paper and you had to have your own deck of playing cards to play. I remember that three aces were home runs, the ace of hearts was a triple, Kings were doubles, Queens were singles, Jacks were walks, any other hearts were strike outs, etc. These guys have pretty much taken that same idea and just made it a little bit neater with balls and strikes. Like the other reviewer said, the REALLY BEST Grand Slam baseball game of all time is SherCo's Grand Slam dice and tabletop board game. I wish that was still around. But this is a good one, too, for just a quick time-passer. It's fun but not very realistic.

This Sure Ain't Sherco's Grand Slam Baseball
May 30, 2003

This game is 'cute'--if that term can be used to describe a game about the American pastime....but it is certainly not in the same league as SherCo Games' 'Grand Slam Baseball Game' that was a top-selling mail order board game from 1968-1994. SherCo rated all the players (this game does not), had individual stadiums (this game does not), and loads of other special plays, events, wind factor, automatic umpire, etc., etc. This Grand Slam has a nice name but hardly is worth the price of admission when there are so many other better ball games, including Stratomatic, APBA, and of course SherCo.
