Product Description

The Senet game is played on boards similar to those found in the tombs of Egyptian Kings such as Rameses III and Tutankhamen (King Tut). the Egyptians referred to the game in hieroglyphics as one of "passages" with the movement of the pieces representing the wanderings of the soul in the "underworld". The hieroglyphics on the sides of the Senet game are reproductions of hieroglyphics found on a 3,000-year-old papyrus and describe the wanderings in the game. The Senet game rules of play have been enjoyed by thousands of game enthusiasts. We believe they will give you hours of entertainment and the game will be a beautiful addition to your home.

Great, Educational Game for kids.
February 02, 2004

We had this game in the 1980's, it was a fun game to play with my kids. They enjoyed it and havent'forgotten about playing it. My kids are in the play station generation, so for them to remember a game like this it meant a little more than the average game board. This past Christmas I was out looking for it so I could give it as a stocking stuffer. The stores don't carry it now, but gave me this web site.

A marvelous game!
January 16, 2004

My husband taught me to play this, and we like it so much I even found a version of Senet for my Palm Pilot. This particular set is simple and elegant and is a reproduction of the boards used from the earliest time up to the middle of the New Kingdom period, when a more elaborate 'funerary' board was developed.

ONe of my favorite games for two people!

A typical race to the end that also looks like art
March 05, 2003

This game is a race to the finish line with an equal balance of strategy and luck. Blocks can be formed to stop your opponent from progressing while spots on the board can send a player's piece elsewhere on the board. The winner is the first to get all 5 pieces off the board. Instead of a die (although it does come with one), the player tosses four sticks which determine a number between 1 and 5, (six is not a valid roll if the die is used). The most unique thing about this game is that it can be displayed on a shelf or coffee table as you would a chess set.
