Foppen is a fast card game in which everyone tries not to be cheated. Unfortunately, everyone will be cheated sooner or later, so watch out!
I would rate this game as one of my favorite trick-taking card games, the others being Flaschenteufel (a trick-taking game with a real theme!) and Sticheln (an 'evil' card game that will prick you if you are not careful!). There are 4 suits with varing number of cards with values 2-20. There are four '1's which can be played in any suit. You must follow the lead suit if you can. High card takes the trick. The player that played the lowest card of the suit (if all the same suit is played) or the lowest card of a non-matching suit is the fool or foppen! The foppen must then sit the next hand out (does not get to play a card!)The first person to play all their cards gets 10 points. All other players get negative points equal to the value of the cards left in their hand. If you are the fool in the last hand you get no positive points. The artwork is unique on this deck of cards.
