Play a card from your hand, place a chip on a corresponding space on the game board... when you have five in a row, it's a Sequence. Learn to block your opponents -- remove their chips. Watch out for the jacks -- they're wild. With a little strategy and a little luck -- you're a winner!
It requires a great concentration. When playing sequence, you really don't understand how the time runs.
Chance is a factor but concentration and building a good strategy is much more important to win.
I have played Sequence many times, and a lot of people seem to really enjoy it. I just can't get into it. I don't see what the fascination is all about.
My first complaint is the luck factor. OK, there is a wee bit of strategy since each card is on the board in 2 different places and you have to choose how to use Jacks, but in order to get the card you need it's all luck of the draw.
The other thing I don't like about Sequence is the fact that during someone's turn everyone else sits and waits. I like games that involve everyone all the time. I have played with some people who are heavy Sequence strategists. They will contemplate for an extended amount of time which card to play, meanwhile I have my next 3 moves ready to go.
If you like games based primarily on luck, try Sequence. If you are more of a strategy minded individual, try something else.
