Great game for two!
August 30, 2006

My wife and I have really enjoyed this game. It made a great first impression with the quality bits and beautiful art direction. Gameplay-wise we really had fun. The nature of the game is to develop property within the city walls of Elasund. Smaller buildings can be torn down and replaced with bigger ones (typically you replace a smaller building of your opponent with a larger building of your own!) Two player games can sometimes be a little quiet but not this one - duking it out with your opponent over property makes for some devilsh fun.

It has room for several strategies, with a bit of randomness thrown in - which we think helps make the game interesting and replayable.

My wife - a non-gamer - actually requests this one now.

OK game, better if you like luck and agressiveness

Since I'm the first reviewer here, I hate to give this game a less than stellar rating, since I know other people like this game more than I do. I've heard several people say it is the best "Settlers" type game, and much better than Candamir. But I have to be honest, and I didn't like this game as much as I hoped I would.

The thing I disliked most was that it is a fairly mean game. It is very competitive, and you will be jockeying for position and building over each others buildings. If you like competitive, even aggressive, games then this game may appeal to you.

The second thing I didn't like was the amount of luck. It does have perhaps less luck that Settlers of Catan, since you can pay extra to put a building wherever you want. But it still felt like too much luck to me.

However, if you like Settlers of Catan, definitely try this game. It is similar enough that it may be interesting to you, but different enough to be enjoyable and more than just "more of the same Settlers stuff."

I have only played this game once, so take that into account when you read this.
