This game I bought for the library under a math grant. It was the artwork of the small dog that sold it. There are other cards just as funny like a Bigfoot musher. The game is light but, for playing with children a lot of fun and the game does require some thinking.

All the players get a deck of dogs cards number 2 to 6. All the decks are the same. Each player takes the top seven cards. A trophy card is flipped up. All the players then select three dogs from their hands to make a team. They place their teams face down. Once all the teams are selected everybody flips they teams up. The player with the highest point team wins. If two players tie for first place than the second highest player wins. After the winner is found everyone discards they team plus one more card from their hand. Players then draw four more cards from their deck.

It is the rule about ties that makes the game tricky. Sure you can put all you high point dogs together but, someone else can do that the same thing and this makes it possible for someone with a low score to pick up the trophy. It is also not possible to pick up all the trophies so which ones do you go for? Do try to collect a lot of little ones or wait for the big one? What are the other players going to do?

The math element is not as strong as say 24/7 or Take it Easy. Still, it is not a bad way to introduce the idea that math games can be fun. The game does teach other skills as well. You do have to plan ahead in this game. Such as holding onto big point dogs until you collect three. The game also builds memory like Fish Eat Fish in that you have to keep track of what cards the other players have used. It does also have the fun value of Rat A Tat Cat. It's quick, holds a bit of a challenge, and has some humor to it.
