Do you believe that a happy country life comes about only with good planning? Let Pferdemist convince you! If you want a dynamic strategy game with the possibility of improving, Pferdemist for 1, 2 and 4 children and adults is just the ticket. The game is easy to learn, since the figures come into play gradually. It offers enjoyment and tension for 15 to 90 minutes and can also be played co-operatively.
We really enjoy this game! The game comes with a nice, sturdy board, colorful wooden pieces (farmers, rabbits, horses, and hunters) and thick tokens which are carrots or 'horse poop'. The poop tokens are called 'road apples' and they are cute, not offensive in any way.
The box actually contains 6 different games. Two of the games are solitaire, and the other four games are for either 2 or 4 players. One of the games is suitable for pairs.
The wooden pieces' movement is similar to chess pieces. The horse moves like a knight, the farmer moves like a king, the rabbit moves like a bishop, and the hunter moves like a rook. There is more to it than that, but that is a good way to give a general idea of how the pieces move. The exact goal of each game is different, but the game called 'Road Apples' goes like this. The horse drops road apples on the board, the farmer collects opponents' road apples to trade them in for carrots to plant in his garden, the rabbit can eat opponents' carrots and the hunter tries to stop opponents' rabbits. The goal of this game is to plant your vegetable garden first.
I compared this game to chess, but it is not really a chess variant. Even if you don't enjoy chess, I think you would like this. It only takes a moment to learn the different movements of the pieces. And it definitely has a unique theme:)
