Product Description

A co-operative word game! Everyone makes words to cover as many Star Spaces as you can. But each word must be about what you see in the picture. The picture changes. Letters get recycled. Letters are given away. Discuss, share & compare ideas in a natural, friendly way. Yes, you can look up words in the dictionary. No, you don't have to hide behind your letters. Word wizards can play the Advanced Version in which dice are rolled to see what kind of word has to be formed. Antonym? Adjective? Adverb? Noun? Verb? Rhyme?

Family members, students, or friends who simply enjoy word games will find STARWORDS a very refreshing treat! Nervous beginners can play along side of experts. Each makes their best contribution. Play for fun, not blood.

Great way to teach parts of speech
December 05, 2001

This game has been a great way for me, as a homeschooling mom, to teach parts of speech. It is also a great way for struggling spellers to play a word game without the pressure of having to know the correct spelling since dictionary use is encouraged. I have found that it is easily played by younger children as long as there are adults or older kids playing too. What's more, my kids enjoy it!

Not my cup of tea...
March 06, 2001

This one was frankly a disappointment. The problem is that it is just plain boring. The idea is for the players to use available letters to construct words that relate somehow to a picture that has been revealed from a stack of such pictures at the center of the board. The object is to cover as many of the "star" spaces on the board as possible with letters that form these words.

There are long periods when the players just stare at the picture waiting for some idea to hit them. This is not fun. I would not recommend this game, unless you enjoy watching paint dry.
