Let's say the Buzzword is "ball". You and your teammates have 45 seconds to solve 10 clues, and all the answers contain the word ball. Try these clues:
This was the pleasant surprise of Thanksgiving, 2003 for my family. I got Dibs.. I got Buzzwords as an afterthought. Buzzwords was a terrific way to bring in everyone from the family room to the kitchen to the TV room.
We played it in two big groups with two, designated readers for each team rifling out clues and flipping cards. It was great. It was lively. It was a like a gang auction!
If you're quick with an answer, you'll love this. If you blurt out things without thought, your team will disown you. The game room takes on a wonderful, tense quiet in anticipation of the clues. We had twelve - year olds lunge in from the family room to call out answers.
**BONUS** -- The best strategy for answering clues quickly is to focus on a spot on the table and rely only on your ears for information.
It's a terrific game.
This is basically a trivia game which usually doesn't sit too well with my family because we have one member of the family who is a trivia buff. The way that this game works though sets up a format that requires some speed. And, the clues are cleverly worded to make it interesting. We've enjoyed playing this as a couples game for a quick filler.
It's on the tip of your tongue, but can you remember that phrase before time runs out? Divide everyone into two teams. On your team's turn, one member grabs a card, announces its buzzword, and reads the 10 clues in order. Other team members must solve each clue by calling out the phrase that includes the buzzword. Meanwhile, the other team keeps track of the time and the missed clues. Score a point for each correctly solved clue. The cluegiver reads the missed clues to the other team, giving them a chance to score. First team to reach 50 points wins. You'll get quite a buzz in the 45 seconds available to complete your answers to questions ranging from easy to quite difficult.
