Who will build the most magnificent palace? In the game of Palazzo, set in the age of the late Renaissance, the players slip on the roles of wealthy landowners, who compete against each other to build the most valuable palaces. As their constructions grow, the players must choose from the available palace modules from the quarries, so they can add to their palaces. Of course, none of this building can be done without money, so sometimes a player must take time out to earn some money so he can afford to continue his building projects.

The game has good balance, and some original concepts (3 types of currencies; no change given when paying for an item; uncertainty about when the game ends). It is another well- conceived Knizia game. The theme is pleasant and well reflected in the game and materials (the graphics are top notch!).
We also appreciate the fact that a round can easily be played in less than 45 minutes.
We didn't give it 5 stars due to the amount of luck involved, and the fact that it becomes somewhat repetitive after you've played 4-5 times. The rules are somewhat tedious to learn from the booklet, but once you've played once you realize they are actually quite simple...
Good buy overall.
