With modest means -- five fields and a tiny amount of capital -- each player attempts to show that he can grow the biggest potatoes. Many decisions must be made during the game year: Which sort of seeds will reap the best results? How many fields should be worked? Will fertilizers or pesticides be needed? Is more capital needed?
As a farmer, you must constantly balance the needs of ecology and economics -- whether to make profits quickly or remain environmentally conscious. During the game, who will become the richest and who the greenest? Or will both titles go to the same player?

I've played this one a couple of times now, and have enjoyed it. Firstly, I should note that it now appears to come with an officially translated rulebook, which should solve any translation problems. Furthermore, these new rules have dropped the selling-price of worms to 60DM, thus making worm-farming rather less attractive. (Some had previously thought the farming of worms to be a viable, albeit unglamorous strategy.)
Players are faced with a myriad of decisions during each year. It has a slightly 'micro-management' feel to it, but plays well. Money can be made, but not easily. The components are excellent. If you enjoy business games, this one is certainly worth a look. It's complex, in the sense that the winning strategy is not obvious (to me at least), and possibly a bit dry for some, but I would recommend it to those who enjoy games that are strongly themed and don't mind doing a few sums.
