I happened to find this game on sale at a World War II convention for $5.00. Since then I have grown to love this game. At least once a month me and my dad (a fellow WWII history buff) will devote an entire evening to this game. While I agree that the rules are a little cut and dried, I very much enjoy this game. Please e-mail me with suggestions of other good wargames!
It's a great game...I really like it because it recreates a portion of a war that we tend to forget: the Eastern front. I find the attack force and defence force ratio very good between German and Russian units. I encourage you to create your own scenario when you'll understand the game, it can be challenging and very interesting to do so.
It's a great game, and in this age of computer games, it's kinda cool to see that you can still have great fun and good interaction without having to look at a T.V. screen to do so!
Long live Panzer Blitz
Contrary to the review that I just read about this game it is very fun. After years of grand strategy games I have finally found the pure joy of a shoot 'em up game. The action is fast. Each turn represents 6 minutes of battle field action. The field of battle is cramped. Up to 5 players participate in the macro game representing 2 German commanders and 3 American/British commanders. The Macro game requires 2 games to come up with all the counters that you need but it is the most fun I have had with a battle simulation in 10 years.
