Get Ready! Get Set! Wiggle!
May 31, 2012

Worm Up! is a very cute and endearing race game for children and adults, in which players are racing their worms in a quest to be the fastest to the finish line. It's been around for a while, but the past year saw it being released in a brand new edition with some new components.

The main mechanic is simultaneous selection, as everyone simultaneously selects and reveals a number on their die. If you're the only player to pick that number, you get to move your worm forward the matching number of segments; but if you chose the same number as another player, you don't get to move at all that round. This bidding mechanic results in groans and grins alike, and also there's some real fun to be had in trying to cut off other players while making your own dash for the finish.

The game plays quickly, is easy to learn, and great for people of all ages - especially kids, who just love the idea of racing worms. Recommended!

A little masterpiece
October 14, 2008

This wonderful little jewel is one of the games I like most in the huge Alex Randolph's production. It's great that the international alliance between Gryphon games, Abacus, Gigamic, Venice Connection Italia and 999 games distribute it again on the market. And it's great to see the photo of the Altmeister in the cover instead of the commercial logos.

The game is very funny and simple: each player has a worm, composed by 7 segments who has to move toward the finish line directly on the table, without a playing board. Every round you can choose the number of steps you want to move but if somebody chooses the same number you cannot move at all! You can also choose the X. I successful you can move even the finish line! Fast, frolicking family fun!

Alex Randolph wasn't just a game author, many consider him to be the archetype of game authors. This game is an homage to his memory.

In the flaps of the bottom of the box is hidden also a quote from an Alex Randolph's speech.
