These cars are nicely detailed with 5 variations, giving 5 teams of two cars each in a pack. They are good quality; the price is reasonable; and, being made for the game, they fit the tracks perfectly. They really, really need a decent paint job, though, and fortunately our group has someone who can do them justice. They accentuate the experience that is Formule De, and seeing my blood-red Ferraris thundering down those straights is a wonderful sight.
Adding the pewter cars to your Formula De game is a great way to add accuracy and personality to your game.
In my group, we're fortunate enough to have a real Formula One fanatic who actually paints all our cars to resemble historical and contemporary Formula One teams. But even if I had to do all the painting myself, I'd still recommend these detailed models to any serious racer.
First, if half-way decently painted, they add a lot of color and a sense of reality to the game.
They're also a good deal from a game-playing point of view. Since everybody can choose their own paint scheme, there's less confusion over who's driving what. Second, the spoilers don't come off in your hand as you're trying to count spaces. And the nice, weighty feel is, for me at least, and intangible bonus.
A word to the wise--if you've not worked with metal miniatures before, it's a good idea to seal them with a clear coating (available at any hobby shop). This will help the paint job stand up to repeated handlings.
Whether you choose real color schemes or come up with your own, I think these cars are a great and inexpensive way to take your Formula De races to the next level.
