The card game for the whole family, loved for generations -- an indispensable classic!
Average Rating: 4.8 in 6 reviews
I first learned this game while working as a nanny in Switzerland and had a lot of fun playing several different versions of it with children from ages 5-10. Since returning from Europe I've taught it to a lot of my friends, who just love it! We'll sit there playing it for hours! We especially like a version called "Asel" (donkey) In this version you dived the cards all up inbetween the different players (2-6 players) and each flip one card over. If you have an eleven you place it in the middle, and if not you can place cards on eachothers piles going up and down (a 17 on an 18, or a 11 on a 12) until you can no longer play, and then it's the next persons turn. However, if you fail to place a card when you could have and someone else sees it, they call "Asel!" and get to give you one of your cards. The object is to get rid of all your cards. It's simple and yet keeps you paying attention, tons of fun for all ages!
Want a creative game that's different from the normal card games? Then you need to play Elfer Raus!
My in-laws introduced this to my wife and I and since then we have managed to get my sister and her family hooked as well as my brother and sister-in-law.
We always play this game when we get together. You can go a few rounds and enjoy the game along with good conversation.
Oh, don't forget the strategy. How long can you hold onto those key cards so that your opponents have to play the card you need? Aha! All part of the game of Elfer Raus!
The only drawback that we had in our game was that the instructions were in German. You can find English translations on the web by searching for it in your favorite search engine.
