Product Description

Lift Off is a fast-paced card game in the tradition of Speed. Players must place cards as fast as possible into a specified layout. Players earn victory points for rockets to the planets only if the load of the rocket is correct. Each player has an identical deck of cards: blue cards for personnel and equipment, gold cards as starter cards, and red cards for orders. Players' decks are shuffled, then players play one card after another as fast as possible onto the table or to the bottom of their deck until they run out of cards or possibilities. When all are finished, points are scored for fulfilled orders or settled planets.

Quick (very quick!) Fun
June 16, 2006

This is a quirky, quick game that plays fast - you have to outthink your opponent, but do so in limited time, which makes the game dynamic unique. There is a bit of a learning curve - my wife and I had to "get our feet wet" for the first three games before we could even begin to implement good strategies.

It's a nice balance between careful planned out attack, and the surprise element of finishing quicker than your opponent which can then lead to the collapse of (what would have been) well-laid plans! Technically, when one player finishes rapidly distributing his cards, the other player must stop immediately, but my wife and I play the "three second rule" to be more merciful, giving 3 mississippi's before time runs out for the other player. It works well, and leads sometimes to amusing end results, because the opponent plays so quickly at the end that he makes mistakes that are counter-productive.

All around, a fun game that plays quickly. Probably a nice filler.
