Players try to keep their snouts ahead at all times. A player who plans and plays his cards at the right times will be rewarded with lots of food. The player with the largest food supply at the end of the game is the winner. Galloping Pigs is a fast card game that is easy to learn and a lot of fun for the whole family.

This is a game I truly enjoy playing with my children. It is easy to learn and encourages the development of simple strategy. My kids always want to play it 'one more time,' and it is so fast-paced and enjoyable that I really don't mind giving in to their requests. The only criticism I have is that the background colors of the pig cards are intended to match the colors of the pigs, but only do so in 3 out of 5 cases. We easily adjusted, making the white backgrounds represent green and the brown backgrounds represent orange. The manufacturers could (and should) remedy this simple flaw to hone their game to perfection. That being said, we all love it anyway!
I've never played Galloping Pigs with other adults, but as the previous reviewer stated...this is an excellent game for parents and kids to play together. I picked it up at GenCon last summer, along with a bunch of other games, and this is the one that keeps coming out. If you have kids or nieces and nephews to entertain on a holiday, pick up this, Blink, and Apples to Apples Junior and you're good to go for at least 90 minutes.
It's great for kids because it's easy to teach, and not a nightmare for parents, because there is a shallow level of strategy to keep your brain from turning to Candyland-type mush!
I hope that the title of this review caught your eye. Now I want to tell you about this great little game. EXTREMELY IMPORTANT: This game is fluff. Not just filler but super-fluff. It is not a gamer's game. It is not even a non-gamers game. This is a game for children and parents, or maybe children and infants. But I am neither a child, nor a parent, and I think this game is fantastic! Why? It is inexpensive, it takes 90 seconds to explain the rules, the artwork is cute and the plastic pigs look great, and the whole game takes about 7 minutes to play with gamers (maybe 15 minutes with families with small children).
The game is simplicity itself: everyone has a small hand of cards, and the colors on the cards correspond to the pig of the same color. Playing a red card means moving the red pig forward to the next empty space. If the next two spaces have pigs on them, you move past them both, so that the pig is on an empty space. If, by playing a card, your pig is at the front of the line after you've moved her, you get a veggie. If with your last card you move a pig to the front, you keep your veggies; if not, you lose them. Play three rounds. Person with the most veggies wins!
This is not going to be on the Internet Top 100 Games list. But it is one of the best childrens games Ive ever played, right up there with the likes of Memory (another 5-star children's game I really enjoy playing). This is the kind of game that kids will fondly remember playing years later. Trying to juggle your cards to make sure you keep your veggies is no mean feat, and bluffing by moving worthless pigs is certainly part of the strategy. I play it with my game group (at least, I play it when I can convince them to try it) and I like it a lot. It is super-fluffy, but fluff doesnt get much better than this!
