This is a GREAT game!
December 25, 2000

Really, it is.

See that you get two starter sets (like one Fedration and one Klingon or Romulan) and maybe 2-3 boosters (not needed to play, but fun to add some extra ships, crew and missions) and play.

The game is easy to learn. It involves you commandeering your ship (or even more fun: your fleet) and completing a mission before the enemy does.

On your ship you carry crew (and yes you'll find Data, Worf, Gen. Martok, Dr. Crusher and all), tech-disks (technical upgrades and handweapons) and of course torpedoes. Every disk aboard gives you a certain advantage, like better sensors, larger firing range, faster torpedos.

You can fly the ships around, try to out-maneuver your opponent's ships, fire beam weapons or torpedoes and--this is fun--try to board enemy ships. It's your away team against the security forces on the boarded ship.

The game is fun. It has some elements of the earlier (sadly stopped) Star Trek dice game, like the command panel and the tech disks.

Be sure to have a large area to play on. We tried our kitchen table, but found it too small to really give the ships room to move. We played on the floor. That worked fine.

If you like Star Trek, if you like a fast action game, if you're into strategy, this is a game you wouldn't want to miss!

Have fun and... don't trust the Ferengi!
