It is freezing cold on the polar expedition. Your spit has started to freeze in your mouth, but you choose to remain outside. You must be careful, for one of your companions is the BEEST. You do not know who. It might even be two of you. Or more. And they are out to get you. So find out who to trust, before it is too late!
Beest is a strage game. At the beginning of each polar expedition (round of play), fate lays her eyes on a player, and between them they share a dark secret: that player is doomed to be the Beest. He is possessed by an ancient evil--an unspeakable being which strives to ensnare the souls of all other players to become infected with the Beest themselves. This pack of lamentable souls then joins the original evil in hunting others. But only the Beest itself is powerful enough to turn a human soul black. Meanwhile, the innocent untainted players try to avoid becoming infected by teaming up with other untainted players. Or with players they think are untainted....
All this is represented by playing cards in a series of hiding places. Each card represents a series of caves in which members of the expedition have sought refuge. From time to time, players find an entry point--which is dangerous, as this means meeting other players.... If neither of the players meeting was the original Beest, the good guys get closer to winning. If only one of them was innocent, the lurking evil has expanded again.
There's one silent guy along on the expedition. No one knows him, and he does not speak. In fact, he looks and acts remarkably like a Splotter game box. That's right, the box plays along. It might be the Beest, and, strangely enough, it might even win the game.
It may seem at first that it is completely random who will be Beest and who will not. This is correct. But both Beest and non-Beest players have an equal chance to win points. In fact, the game is random, but winning is not random at all.

It's dangerous to review a game after one play, but since there are no reviews for this one I feel it is my duty to warn the general public of the danger that lurks here.
In my opinion, this game sucks big time. It sticks in my throat that I have to give it even 1 star. It seems to me that a game should be treated with extreme suspicion if the box in which it came can be the winner. In our game it was observed that the box would also make a useful doorstop, and would be serving humanity to a far great degree in this capacity. In fact, we were all losers, so in that sense the box was the only winner: rather like a parasite, it had now found a home. The theme of the game could in fact be viewed as a metaphor for the spread of the game itself. You get it, it is bad for you, but you don't know that until it's too late. I am here to save you from this fate.
I'll give a few, brief reasons for my opinion. The appears to be very little control in this game. Even less is there any information upon which to base one's decisions. My guess is that there is supposed to be a large element of table talk, but none of us had sufficient enthusiasm for the game in order to get motivated to do so. One might have more fun talking about the weather.
So, my advice is to avoid this game at all costs, and incidentally I consider it over-priced. Go spend your money somewhere else and let the Beest rot in hell. I'd be very happy to hear some contrary opinions to this one, since Splotter are a company I admire. In fact, go buy 'Bus' instead!
