Each player is dealt 10 cards and tries to score the most points by spelling words of three letters or more, in the same colorful suit. But don't think the fun stops there. Tri-Virsity will keep on entertaining you with a number of exciting and mind boggling twists like "challenges," "cards up for grabs," "wild cards," and the possibility of adding onto the beginning and/or end of other players words or your own. You can play one hand in minutes or keep score and play for hours.

It only takes a couple of minutes to learn to play the game. It can be played for just a few minutes, or a great deal longer. Exercises your brain, but not too much. Great for any number of players. Add a second deck for really large groups.
Basic play: You have a hand of ten cards, each with a letter in one of three suits (or wilds). You need to play words at least three letters long, or add to the begining or end of words already played. When someone goes out, the cards you've played are worth positive points, the cards still in your hand are negative. You get a ten point bonus for going out. Example: I play the word HIT in red; the player to my left adds a red W to the beginning, creating the word WHIT; a third player adds a red E to the end, creating the word WHITE.
Be forewarned, things can get silly if you play this one late at night, or after frying your brain playing more strategic games like Risk or even Settlers of Catan.
Played this recently with the whole family. We let the younger kids (8-12) use a dictionary but the adults however played by the rules which is to know the spelling and definition of a word that they play or run the risk of being 'challenged'. This adds a dimension to the game that most don't have. Of course you could choose not to penalize for either if you wish. This game a cross between UNO and SCRABBLE and being a big fan of both of those I took to this game quite easily. HIGHLY RECOMMENDED.
