Nothing revives such vivid childhood memories as playing this game with brothers and friends; our original copy was worn out and lost to the ages years ago. This game was IT in the 70's (along with Panzerblitz and Tactics II), until we were all introduced to this new thing called 'Dungeons & Dragons'...
I played the original release of the game in the late 70's and loved it. We anxioussly awaited the variants published in the Dragon and invented countless others. I've been looking for the old version off and on since the mid 90s but could never muster the stones to pay what the market demanded. It looks like this version has a hard board as opposed to the original paper. With the play it'll get it'll need it.
Never have I played such a fast paced, easy to learn, every game has a different outcome game. This game has a little of everything anyone would want. A classic in its day, I am glad to see it return to the shelves, my copy is wore out. Cant wait to replace it.
The simple beauty of this awesome game is that it teaches one of the most important group skills imaginable: how to identify, isolate, counter-balance and neutralize a multitude of individual agendas from your rivals all while slowly advancing your own interests.
This game made me what I am today a very troubled young man who owns a lot of Victor Von Doom memorabilia.
Remember: There can be only one.
Friends fighting friends, the forced ethos of supreme domination by a single person, culling the weakest from the pack, hostilities bleeding over into the schoolyard, paranoia at leaving the room to take a leak because treacherous alliances would be made in your absence, the sudden gut-wrenching fear as your erstwhile ally moves in concert with your enemy to crush you, smiling encouragingly all the while...
This game made me what I am today. A Fortune 500 executive.
