Summer fun
October 10, 2002

Sonic Splash Zoom Ball is an entrant in the good domb fun category, a new twist on the old standard, the water balloon fight.

The zoom ball is a plastic football shape with an open framework and cords running trhough it to handles on either end of the cords. One player takes each set of handles and by spreading one's hands, forces the ball to shoot down the cords toward the other player, who then repeats the process. A glorified albeit fast version of catch without all that running after missed balls. For someone with little eye-hand coordination like me, this is already a godsend.

Enter the water balloon aspect. Water balloons )25 are included) can be inserted into the framework, and can break at the most inopportune times, drenching the unlucky player at one end of the cords. The manufacturers were even kind enough to include a nozzle attachment to make water balloon filling a breeze.

Dumb? Yes. Fun? Definitely. Recommended.
