E-Tools allows users to create, customize, share, and print characters, monsters, races, treasure, NPCs, and encounters. In addition, users may tailor E-Tools to incorporate house rules into their creations. Lastly, E-Tools includes a comprehensive help file system that spans the tables and listings of the Player's Handbook, the Dungeon Master's Guide, and the Monster Manual, the three core rulebooks.
I see in the below disclaimer that we are supposed to review the item itself, however a character generator needs review on both design and manufacture ... so I feel that these must be commented on. How interesting that Wizards of the Coast would release a generator that simply does not print on Windows 98. The programmers left out 2 simple type characters (quotation marks) so the program is utterly useless without a patch. OH YES! There is a patch! WOTC went to Code Monkey for help, but code monkey's website is so jumbled and confounded that it is nearly impossible to download the patches, one actually gets caught in a loop because of bad web links (praise to the business tactics of Code Monkey and their ability to make you hit the banner add several dozen times.) Onwards to XP ... well the program at least prints on this operating system. However more sloppy programming has produced a generator that is just plain ugly. The labels of each data box are cut so that the front and back of each word do not fit, for instance the words 'Character Generator' appear as 'aracter Generat' in the actual program. This make the program difficult to use. A word or two to Wizards of the Coast ... BETA TEST, DEBUGGERS. Lastly, run! Run now! Dont buy this program as I did! Download a free generator ... at least you will be able to use it!
