I Love This Game!
July 26, 2003

Why do I love this game? Because I love The Andy Griffith Show, and after 26 years of loyal viewing consider myself a connoisseur of all things Andy. Plus, in my current gaming circles at least, it is the one game of which I am virtually assured victory.

The game is simple, easy to learn, and perfect for large groups. As few as two people, or as many as four teams of any number of people can play. One must, however, have been at some point in time a fairly regular viewer of the show to stand a chance or get any enjoyment out of the game.

The object of the game is to answer questions from The Andy Griffith Show, move around the board, and land on the final square. Simple enough. One of four different categories is indicated on each square around the game board, a la Trivial Pursuit, and, obviously, you cannot move off of a square until you correctly answer a question from that particular category. After three consecutive turns, however, if you still cannot answer a question from that category, you can declare yourself 'stuck' in order to move to a different square. If you are stuck, however, you have to roll the die and move back the number of spaces indicated. I pride myself on the fact I have never been stuck, but I digress. The four categories are: 'True/False,' two categories called 'Questions With Specific Answers,' and 'Multiple Choice.' Four spaces on the board are marked 'Take 2 Spaces,' which is just a way to get to the end faster. So see, it's not rocket science, but it is fun.

I have bent the rules occasionally to give my opponents a fighting chance. Sometimes when I win a game, we'll play again and I'll let my opponents stay on whatever square they're on and I'll start back at the beginning. Other die hard Andy fans may wish to follow suit to keep the peace and ensure that others will want to play with you again in the future. So all you fans of gaming and classic television give this game a try...I'll be at Floyd's Barbershop.
