A long way away there are a few palm trees, a bit more sunshine than here, a wild band of monkeys and many bananas. We are right in the middle of a typical banana paradise. Nothing disrupts the peace. Nothing except the wild shrieks from atop a monkey rock. The monkeys have a competition for the title Top Banana today. Let us see what happens....
With orderly quick movements monkeys leap from rock to rock, first up then down. Each has just one goal, to sit higher than the others at the end of the round, so he can get the best view. Unfortunately only the one who can do this the best can claim the title Top Banana.
So Top Banana is played out on the monkey rocks in much the same way.
This game is easy for a child to play and a great strategic game for adults. Children will have fun moving the cute monkeys up and down the rocks. I would suggest an adult be present to teach kids the proper way to play. As for adults, this game is a terrific little gem. Don't be fooled by it's looks. I recently played it with some adults and we had a great time. The game has a strategic element when lobbying your monkey up and down the rock, which makes you plan ahead. The only problem is trying to figure out what your opponents are planning. You'll find yourself giggling as you think 'Darn that green monkey and it's banana. Where does it think its going?'
This game is very simple. Each player have 5 cards marked 1-5, which means the total no. of steps a monkey can move (either upward or downward). The goal is to be the monkey on the highest step. The highest one earns two banana chips, and the second highest earns one banana chips. Game continue until one player have 5 chips.
Sounds simple? Some extra rules added to it:
1) You can't play a number that previous player just played.
2) If there is a monkey on the step when you want to go through it, skip that step.
3) Whenever a monkey reaches the highest step, it moves downwards, instead of just stay in it.
4) If your last card's value equal to previous player's value, then you move using your previous card's value.
This games gives players some planning in movement. Since the total number of steps is 13,a nd your total value of card is 15, plus some steps are skipped, you need to carefully plan when to move upward, when to move downward.
Pretty component with strategy. Fun for all ages.
