Product Description

Who will build the most magnificent palace? In the game of Palazzo, set in the age of the late Renaissance, the players slip on the roles of wealthy landowners, who compete against each other to build the most valuable palaces. As their constructions grow, the players must choose from the available palace modules from the quarries, so they can add to their palaces. Of course, none of this building can be done without money, so sometimes a player must take time out to earn some money so he can afford to continue his building projects.

Fun, rapid game
March 28, 2007

The game has good balance, and some original concepts (3 types of currencies; no change given when paying for an item; uncertainty about when the game ends). It is another well- conceived Knizia game. The theme is pleasant and well reflected in the game and materials (the graphics are top notch!).

We also appreciate the fact that a round can easily be played in less than 45 minutes.

This game is "middle-of-the-range" on the strategy dimension, i.e. definitely not the same level as Puerto Rico or the Princes of Florence.

We didn't give it 5 stars due to the amount of luck involved, and the fact that it becomes somewhat repetitive after you've played 4-5 times. The rules are somewhat tedious to learn from the booklet, but once you've played once you realize they are actually quite simple...

Good buy overall.

The master does it again!

I don't know how Reiner Knizia does it, but this is another masterpiece by the doctor! This game moves at a quick pace and has a lot of player interaction. At first the money was a bit confusing, but in the end it was a very unique way for it to be used. The palace building is fun and interesting in how the victory points are gained. You really benefit from building a five-story palace and even more-so by making it out of the same material. This game will be hitting the table quite often as it is very enjoyable and quick paced. Once again, a high five to the doc and also 5 stars!
