Payday, Fun for Hours For all the Family!!
December 28, 2003

This Game is both fun and exciting and can go on for as long or as little as you wish. A simpler version of Monopoly, with loans avaliable to take out with realistic interest rates, this game is easier for children than any others i have seen. This is the best game i have ever played!!

A luck-based classic that's annoying especially when you're losing
September 16, 2005

Of the classic game designers, I've always felt that Parker Brothers was by far the most inventive and original. They had a tendency to come up with games that really stood the test of time. Payday, unfortunately, is one of their failures.

Payday is a roll-and-move game that is 100% dependent on the luck of the roll. The only decision in the game is whether to buy into a Deal. I'm not going to go into detail on the gameplay, because most people have played this one at some time in their childhood. Suffice it to say, though, their are good spaces and bad spaces and winning the game is entirely dependent on landing on the good spaces more than the bad.

The theme is a cute one. It helps you see what goes on in real life, as your paycheck is gradually being used up before you even get it. It can also teach children some lessons about paying off bills once a month.

The value of luck games like this is, they are so easy to understand and play, even young children can play along. The kids are on a level playing field with everyone else, because it's all up to the dice to win.

Basically, Payday is a good family game to play with the kids. But since I'm at that age where I'm playing with all teens or adults (and have no kids of my own), it just doesn't hit the spot for me.
