Even 5-year-olds can play...
April 01, 2006

For the price, this is a great way to introduce kids to the game of chess. The cards dictate what piece moves, and show the way the piece moves, so each player can focus on one piece type at a time. Though an element of "luck of the draw" is introduced into the game, it also assures a relatively quick game compared to a standard game. Merely capture the king to win. There is no check or checkmate. The cards are nice as is the board and pieces (solid and heavy, though smallish). The only "cheap" aspect is the card tray which is flimsy plastic. It would have been nicer to have harder plastic for that, and a little deeper to hold all the cards. Overall, another creative and unique game from Winning Moves.
