Product Description

Keesdrow is fun and challenging with a strong educational benefit for all who play. Few games offer the level of interaction between children and adults like Keesdrow.

Unlike other word games, all players have access at all times to the entire game board and to all letters on the board. Double-sided tiles provide a new game each time Keesdrow is played!

Easy to learn and play, yet will challenge even the most intellectual player, or one that thrives on strategizing several moves in advance! You will be sure to take advantage of each other’s moves, building on previously used letters to score extra points. Enjoy non-stop fun as you show other players just how creative you can be.

I Know Boggle and this is No Boggle
May 06, 2007

This is a cute little game for word-game lovers. It's essentially Boggle with a huge grid and where you can sit on a letter to create double-letter sequences (e.g. B-O-O-K made up of only 3 letters on the board). Oh, and a quirky rule that a single instance of a letter can be used no more than 3 times during the game.

The main problem is information overkill. This set features a 16x16 grid (256 letters). Boggle, by comparison, has only a 4x4 grid for the standard game and 5x5 for Big Boggle. And that's plenty to get lots of words from. Now consider how many words you could see if you took the time to look at the equivalent of 16 contiguous boggle grids! The mind, err, boggles.

As a result, the 2-minute timer is a must. In fact, I'm considering switching to one of the variant games listed in the rules where you just find as many words as you can in a 2-minute window. Word after word, a la Boggle. Score 'em all. This might give an advantage to the start player, but I don't care. Speed is more important than perfection in this (or any) game.

Yes, it has convoluted scoring that isn't exactly intuitive and yes, a person can spend an eternity looking for a decent word (not even a perfect word). But it's still not a bad game. In fact, maybe just cutting back to the standard edition of the game would be the best bet (only difference is that the other edition features a 12x12 grid, which is much less taxing).

This game is a fine tribute to Boggle (which is a Hall of Fame game in my book), but it's just that, a Boggle wannabe.
