Product Description

Brain Chain, the strategy-driven trivia game, challenges players as no game has before. The board's clever design allows players to block each other's progress while advancing their own without the use of dice. Although demanding enough to satisfy hard-core trivia buffs, the simpler and more mainstream trivia questions allow players of all skill levels to play at the same time. This hypnotic combination is exciting for the whole family, including kids and grandparents. Do you yearn for the days when the whole family played games and laughed heartily together? Brain Chain is the solution and guaranteed to keep the entire family up past their bedtime.

Brain Chain is THE Strategy Game for trivia fans!
October 18, 2006

Instead of being a feeble excuse for asking each other trivia questions, Brain Chain is a thinking person's trivia game. Brain Chain's tagline is "Luck is helpful. Knowledge is Important. Strategy is Crucial." And Brain Chain delivers as promised.

Two or three players or teams compete to answer questions: when correct, the team places a "link" of its color (red, green or blue) on the corresponding space of the large 10 by 10 grid that makes up the playing board. To win, a team must get six "links" in a row . . . horizontally, vertically or diagonally.

The novel spin of Brain Chain is that all teams move the same yellow marker around the edges of the board through the use of movement cards and "brain pills" (bonus cards collected by correctly answering trivia questions). A team can attempt to answer a trivia question on a square that is in the same row or column as the yellow marker. This means that all players jockey for squares to enhance their chain or block their opponents' chain while attempting to manuever onto the powerful corner squares. Another ingenious device is that the yellow marker itself can be used to complete a row of six for the win!

The four corner spaces that have special powers: remove an opponent's "link," place a free link, move any link, or attempt to answer a question on any square.

The trivia categories are: Business, Entertainment, Geography, History, Sports, Science, Potluck, and Oddball (you must figure out what trait 3 of the 4 items listed share in common).

It's Trivial Pursuit with a Go-Moku win mechanic and a dash of Pueblo added in. This is a guaranteed hit. After one play there will be no doubt in your mind why it was included in Games Magazine's Top 100 Games list!!

Move over Trivial Pursuit--Brain Chain has got you beat hands down!
October 09, 2006

Brain Chain is Trivial Pursuit as it should have been. It has all the trivia, with an excellent range of questions and selection of categories, but unlike Trivial Pursuit has all the strategy too. Brain Chain's trivia component is seamlessly integrated onto an ingenious and addictive strategy engine. This strategy element is fine-tuned and layered, affording substantial replayability.

How do I know that Brain Chain is all that? Well, I've played Trivial Pursuit (and other similar games) since childhood, and it's always left me with the feeling that it was created simply as an excuse for answering trivia questions with friends in the guise of a not very well-constructed game. Since discovering Brain Chain, I've played it numerous times with a variety of players. Brain Chain is *the* trivia game that I keep going back to whenever friends or family get together for some fun and games. I usually don't even have to mention it by name any more. Someone will without fail say, "Let's play Brain Chain."

If you want a strategic trivia game that plays excellently in teams, this is the game to get. I've found that 4 or 6 players divided into 2 or 3 teams is just perfect.

Get it and have fun!

-The Wizard
