This is about the same as Rubik's Race from the 80's. The only difference is that you get two shaker cubes.

Rubik's Race came with one, and both players raced to see who would match the cube pattern first.

Once a child is about 6 or 7 and can manage the sliding tiles it can be very family friendly. I remember playing it a lot with my sister and my mom.
